California Quaker-Shaker

PROJECT DETAILS

This was the first of several chairs built in collaboration by myself and another artist Vickie Cypherd. These chairs play with the fragility of the California landscape. The construction of these chairs was adapted from a Swiss two-board chair that was capable of being taken apart for transportation. In this version of the chair, the chair is still functional. This chair was part of the 1988 San Diego Home & Garden magazine show and featured in a San Diego Union article 10-2-88 “Art imitates Furniture”. (See Link for Vickie Cypherd). Acrylics on wood
