Mahogany Crotch wood Burl Rocker

PROJECT DETAILS

This is my contemporary rocker constructed in the very rare mahogany crotch wood burl. This is extremely figured wood from a main branch (or crotch) of a tree. This wood is very sought after and most of it goes into veneer for fine furniture. I was very lucky to get a piece of it that wasn’t checked too bad and was large enough to make a chair out of. I’ve since been unable to locate more. The back slats are ebony, which contrast very nicely with the mahogany. The chair is stained in the same color as the old classic dichromate color. 25”x38”x45”  —  $7500
